The iGaming France Conference is the first ever B2B-affiliate event that provided the best insights and networking opportunities on the French market and those looking to work in it. Diane Mullenex and Annabelle Richard did attend this first parisian major online gambling conference which was aimed at the biggest French affiliates, operators and service providers as well as international igaming executives who are active in the market or interested in it but not familiar with it. It represented a great opportunity to network and learnt about one of the key European markets to have recently regulated. Diane Mullenex spoke during this conference on : “Online gaming works and thrives on marketing. How has the industry dealt with the challenges presented by regulated markets: how have they differentiated their offers in a market where taxation means products are very similar, and how have they made the transition from mainly online to print, TV and billboard media?”
Africa Telecom Forum - Marrakech 2011-03-17
The first Africa telecom Forum was held in Marrakech on the 17th,18th and 19th of march 2011 in partnership with our firm. This conference was created in order to discuss on the different stakes of regulation in North, Center and West Africa. Themes connected to telecom regulation as well as a collective thought on the current stakes will enable a better comprehension of the upcoming challenges. Event at Ichay & Mullenex Avocats’: Wine & Cheese on the opportunities for French companies in the US stimulus package. This event was co-chaired with Carole Aciman, partner at Greenberg Traurig’s New York.
For this occasion, Frédéric Ichay spoke about legal problematic in relation with joint ventures between French and American companies, and he presented a review on tax issues regarding to these partnerships, in the light of the amendment dated January13th, 2009 to the Convention of the avoidance of double taxation between France and the US.
Annabelle Richard presented an overview of the main issues related to the implementation of contracts (co-development, licence, partnerships, etc.) between French and US companies such as the protection of the companies’ IP portfolio and the protection of personal data.

Customers in the 21st century have new and higher expectations with regards to their telecoms operators. This requires operators to go to market with new entertainment, information and communications services and enter new thriving sectors, such as IPTV. The commercial challenges are immense, but so too are the legal and regulatory challenges. This session examined the novel legal and regulatory issues in this changing environment. We particularly explored the new areas that operators need to get up to speed on, including dealing with sports and other content rights holders, media regulation, competition law implications, IP issues, new media law, etc. Presentations are available on the IBA website.
